Is MCF8316A capable of driving 120W BLDC?
we are using a motor from maxon. The power supply is 24V, the current could be up to 5A, That will be 120W power consumption on the MOTOR.
The mosfet inside the MCF8316A has inner resistance about 95m ohm, the energy on that will be 5*5*95 *2 = 50mW。
I think the MCF8316A can stand with taht, am I right?

Hi,
MCF8316A can drive motors up to 8A peak motor phase current. However the device can only take up to 70W input power. Please check the current drawn by the power supply at 24V when the motor draws 5A current. If the power is less than or equal to 70W then we should be good.
We developed a thermal calculator for MCF8316A which can be used to estimate power loss and junction temperature. You can make use of this tool to estimate junction temp. You can download the tool from below link and select “DRV8316_FOC” sheet.
