Bq28z610: RM,FCC,RSOC is Not Stable. The value changes approximately each time

Hello Sir/Madam,

I am using bq28z610 with Panasonic NCR 18650f(2900 mah) Battery. I have completed the learning cycle and the full charge capacity value is good and the SOH is 94%. So everything is OK. But when I connected with real-time production, the problem arose.

My product average current value is 10-12 ma/h, and when data is sent or received with a 4G modem, only that time the current value will be above 200mah(Spike Load). Simultaneous charging (solar panel) and discharge process are worked.

problem1:When the morning sunlight comes up, so the charging process begins. That time suddenly changes the value of RM, FCC and RSOC. This condition occurs every day, so the value (RM, FCC and RSOC) increases or decreases day by day.

problem2:There is no charge at night, so the discharge process only works at that time. But the remaining capacity value is not changed. The value did not change for several hours. This condition is not possible because the average current is 12ma / h . The value changes after five or six hours.

Why does this value(RM, FCC and RSOC) change? This is a big issue for my product.

My testing Process:

Test1: I only use the charging process, no change in value (FCC), then I use the discharge process, no change in value (FCC). No big difference, so everything is fine. The problem occurred when I tested it in real-time (simultaneous charging (solar panel) and discharge process). There is a big difference in FCC value from day by day.

Test2: Real-time Test(Simultaneous charging (solar panel) and discharge process). I tried to enable a smooth function and disabled the smooth function, but there were no changes. The same problems occur.

My Doubt: A smooth function that is enabled will calculate(Flt RemCap) the True RemCap value and then display the RM, is this correct?

A smooth function disabled, the True RemCap value Displays the RM directly, is this correct?

I will take a look at this more.

The gauge should change the FCC and RemCap as there is a charge and temperature/current changes this is normal. For problem 1, this seems like normal operation.

For problem 2 the gauge should be seeing the current and adjust according, your dsg current threshold and quit current may affect how the gauge reads the current, or if the gauge is in sleep mode.

My Product average current is 12mA and  My Gauge setting: DSG current threshold value is 20mA and quit current value is 1 mA. Is this correct or not? Need to make any changes to the setting?

I took a look at your logs, it looks like the OCVFR flag is set during the cycle, what chemistry ID are you using?

The RemCap has a filtered option, if the SMOOTH function is enabled the jumps should be mitigated. The two values of RemCap should not be the same because they are calculated with different smoothing factors.

If you want the gauge to be measuring the 12mA more often then it would be best to set it lower to 10mA.

Do you have LOCK0 active? This may hold the RemCap SBS register. Also make sure the IT is enabled.

Can you share the GPCCHEM report? Unless the ID was chosen because exact cell ID match.

It looks like from the learning cycle log you shared that the Trem RemCap went below 0 as well, was that the successful learning cycle log?
